I sat down on the sand, staring at the horizon. The sun was just peeking over it, as if shy. I sighed. The Reaping would be soon, and I was just dying to be in it. Sure, I would miss the calm and tranquil peace of my home, but to think about being in the Reaping and coming out from the Games as champion...I shook the thought away, realizing my hopes were very unlikely, as much as I wished. I might've been more heartbroken if I had daydreamed on and it didn't happen, so it was best to stop. Besides, I couln't bring myself to kill the other District 4 tributes. Anyone else I disliked, sure, but not my friends. I smiled as Nixie padded up to me and sat to my side. She purred as I saw she had a freshly caught fish placed in her mouth. Her eyes were pleading and I rolled my eyes. "Fine, you can eat it now, but just this once." Even though she couldn't understand me, she understood my face, and sank her teeth into its scales. I couldn't help but smile. She was supposed to be catching fish for the District like I did, but I couldn't object. She was just too cute.

He chuckled softly and said, "Brilliant Cat you have there. I watched her as she hunted. Very advanced, did you train her or was she born with that gift to fish?" Altair smiled as he came up on the sand barefooted. A necklace hanging from his neck and his hair alright, if he were in the capitol he would normally have golden streaks in his hair along with blue feathers. He wore plain black shorts along with no shirt, he was wet from swimming just a moment ago.

He smiled and his toes played with the sand. He looked behind him, making sure the peacekeepers were no where in sight. He hated being watched 24/7 while he did his job. He was actually glad that they listened to everywhere he said as well. "Well then, my names Altair Alp-" he was about to say his last name but stopped incase she put it together with the Alpha family who is well known in the Capitol. "Altair Alph." he said the name better now with a smile. "Who are you?"

"Nothing. Just doing what I'm told." he replied in a soft voice now. His eyes didn't look down at the sand. They looked at the ocean transfixed by it.

I become curious. "What do you mean?" I asked. I hated being nosy, but I couldn't help it. I noticed him looking at the ocean, the waves reflecting off his eyes. "I love watching it this time of day," I said quietly. "As a little girl, my mom would come with me and we'd sit and watch the sun rise." The thought of my mother made my heart sink.

My eyes became wide in shock. "Oh um, uh..." I stuttered. I didn't know what else to say. What was I supposed to do? Gamemakers never really came to my part of District 4. I didn't know if I should like, bow or something, but instead, I stood and stuck out my hand. "Nice to meet you."
