| I wake up with a start, it was just a dream. I haven't been chose in the reaping, and neither has my three younger brothers, of course they haven't, they anen't even old enough. It's barley dawn outside, but I know I won't get back to sleep, so I slide out of bed and into my hunting boots. Here in District 12 it's still pretty warm outside so I won't need a coat. As quietly as I can, I make my way through our creaky front door, and out to the street. I'm lucky, I guess, because my house is not even a mile from the medow, where I've found a weak spot in our district's "electric fence." Once I'm there, I can make my way to the woods with little trouble.

| Once I'm in the woods, I collect my bow and arrows from a small gap in the rocks. Then I grab a knife from an old, hollow tree. Just in case. Once I've gathered my weapons I start out into the woods, walking carefully so as not to scare off the prey, but also because you never know if someone, an enemy, might be near by. I stop to take a brake when I reach a stream, not deep enough to swim or fish in, but if you follow it south, you'll reach a fairly large pond, that's what I plan to do today. | |
